Practical Things Parents
Can Take Home
That's
the theme of this year's special needs talks.
We
are in the process of putting together a great variety of presentations for families who have special needs children. We have
contacted a number of speakers and some parents who will be presenting topics based around a theme of giving parents practical
ideas that they can take home and implement within their homeschool setting.
Our speakers include:
Dr. Stephen Guffanti, a physician (and grown up dyslexic) from Rocket Phonics
Dr. Cheryl Davidson, OD, a vision therapist from the Center for Vision
and Learning
Dr.
Matthew Worth, a chiropractic neurologist from Neurological Consultants Midwest, LLC
Dr. Richard Cranwell from Cranwell Chiropractic Center
Cindy McFarland, OT and Day,
SP/L Pathologist from Miriam Learning Center
Carrie Salyer, OT and Lisa Cooseman, SP/L Pathologist from Leaps and Bounds
Cynthia Hoffman, a local expert
on gifted children, and more!!
Many
of these speakers work with children with ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, Down's Syndrome, reading and vision problems,
and so much more!
Parents will learn
about ADD, autism, and many other disorders associated with learning struggles as well as some of the therapy options that
are available for their children. Most of all, though, the talks will focus on providing parents practical, hands on ideas
to utilize to help their children perform better during homeschool times and at all other times as well.
The schedule isn't yet complete, so keep watching the
website for updates.
